PC-12 MOUNTAIN FLYING COURSE
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
1. How much does the course cost?
The fee for the course is $2,480. A deposit of $1,240 is due at the time of booking.
2. What is the registration deadline?
Program registration will close on August 15, 2009, six weeks before the course begins, or when the class fills up, whichever occurs first.
3. What are the class sizes?
To conduct the course, a minimum of eight people will need to register. A maximum of 12 people can be accommodated.
4. Will I be teamed to fly with another pilot enrolled in the course?
SimCom will not be pairing people. A maximum of two enrolled pilots will be permitted in the same aircraft at the same time during flight instruction.
5. Will I use my own aircraft or will one be provided?
Training will be conducted in your own aircraft. SimCom will not be providing aircraft.
6. What do I need to do prior to class?
It is the pilot’s responsibility to make their own hotel and ground transportation arrangements.
7. What do I need to bring with me?
- Airworthiness Certificate
- Registration Certificate
- Pilot Certificate, current medical, and photo ID
- Aircraft and engine log books (or copies of the pages) showing the following information:
- Last annual inspection
- ELT battery replacement date
- Transponder inspection date
- Altimeter/static inspection date
- Weight and Balance Data
- Current Database for your GPS
- Current charts, sectionals, and approach plates appropriate to the area of the training
- Checklists appropriate for your airplane
- An airworthy airplane. If we do find an item that makes the aircraft unairworthy by FAA standards, we will make arrangements with you to complete the flying portion of the program after the discrepancy is resolved.
8. What are the landing and handling fees?
Provided weather conditions are acceptable you may expect to perform several landings at Leadville and an instrument approach to a published missed approach at Eagle and Aspen. There are no landing fees for Leadville.
9. Will I have an opportunity to choose a morning or afternoon flight on day two?
Those who book the earliest will have the first opportunity to chose to go first or second on the flying day.
10. What is the morning agenda for those who are scheduled to go second on day two?
Activities will be made available and announced as they are confirmed.
11. What time do I need to be present for the start of the course?
Plan to arrive in the class area by 8:30 AM for check in. Class will begin promptly at 9:00 AM.
12. Will I get an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) and Flight Review?
In order to qualify for the IPC, you must complete specific maneuvers to the instrument pilot training standards. If for some reason we are unable to complete all the required maneuvers for an IPC in the time available, we will advise you what you need to do to complete the requirements. The course curriculum does not lend itself to meet the requirements for a Flight Review. However, an optional third day may be added to complete the flight review and qualify for a SimCom Recurrent training certificate. The fee for the additional day is $1,120.
13. What type of certificate will I receive?
You will receive a certificate stating you have attended SimCom’s “PC-12 Mountain Flying Course”. And, for those pilots who satisfactorily complete the optional third day of training will receive a SimCom Recurrent certificate.
14. What meals are included?
No meals are provided. However, there are several venues in the area for meals.
15. Do I need a rental car?
Some hotels have shuttle services to the Rocky Mountain Metro Airport. We recommend you contact the hotel where you are staying prior to your arrival.
16. Where do I park my airplane?
You may choose between Denver AirCenter or Stevens at Rocky Mountain Metro Airport.
17. Can I request a specific flight instructor?
We will do our best to accommodate your request. Please make it known when you book the course. However, we cannot make any guarantees on which instructor will be ultimately assigned to you.
CANCELLATION POLICY
If you cancel more than one week before the program begins, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel within one week prior to the course, you will forfeit your deposit.
INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
Not later than September 1, 2009, we will need your insurance company or broker to send SimCom a Certificate of Insurance providing evidence of the following:
Aircraft Liability covering the operation of the aircraft with a minimum limit of $2,000,000 Combined Single Limit.
All Risk Ground & Flight Hull Insurance,with a Waiver of Subrogation to SimCom and their indemnities. Naming: SimCom, its past, present, future parents, subsidiaries, divisions, and predecessors, affiliates, controlling persons, shareholders, directors, officers, agents, servants, employees or instructors of said companies, as Additional Insureds. (Collectively, the indemnities). Coverage is primary and non-contributory to any other insurance available to SimCom or otherwise. Carrier to provide 30 days notice in the event of cancellation, change or reduction in coverage.
